Beer production

The purpose of beer filtration is to make it more stable. This is done through separation of yeast cells and other turbidity – causing materials hence making it more clear and glossy. The following types of filters are used for filtration in breweries: powder filters (plate and frame, candle, screen filters), sheet filters without filter aid (plate filters), membrane filters.

After filtration, beer is transferred to intermediate (buffering) tanks (BBT), where it stays until bottling. Before bottling, carbon dioxide content is increased to 0.5% in machines called carbonation unit.

The last stage of beer production is bottling. The beer can be packed in bottles, cans or kegs. The process of bottling must be carried out in a proper way, at low temperature and high overpressure to prevent carbon dioxide escape.
